Dr. Wael Mansour
Papilla is built by Dr. Wael Mansour, a dentist (BDS). Every radiograph in the bank is real and de-identified, with its findings outlined and named by dentists.
It grew out of a gap he kept seeing. A student can recite what caries looks like on a radiograph and still meet only a handful of real bitewings before being asked to call one in clinic.
What Papilla is
Papilla is for dental and dental hygiene students, and for dentists who want more reading reps.
Every case is a real, de-identified bitewing. You mark what you find, and the app scores your marks against the labels a dentist drew: caries, fillings, crowns, calculus, root remnants, overhangs and pontics. A term you have not met is explained in the dental radiography glossary.
What you can read today
- The case of the day. It is free and needs no account.
- Practice sessions in the app. A pass opens them, and on a new account the first ten cases are free.
- The two-minute reading test, which shows you where you stand on three unmarked bitewings.
- The reference library and the glossary, open to anyone.
